Stäubli Robotics at MODEX 2024: Moving Automation for Supply Chain Optimization

Stäubli Robotics demonstrates award-winning AGV and other technologies to modernize operations, increase productivity, and enhance safety.

Rising fuel costs, falling freight rates and other challenges are driving the need for greater supply chain efficiency. MODEX 2024 comes to the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta on March 11-14 with a focus on solutions for all segments of the material handling, supply chain and logistics industry. At Booth #4699, C Hall, Stäubli Robotics will demonstrate how its automation solutions streamline the flow of goods and materials with optimum flexibility, reliability, and safety.

Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) are making tremendous contributions in the industry-wide effort to optimize and future-proof supply chains. They are used to handle and transport materials in a range of manufacturing and industrial intralogistics applications across sectors. Stäubli is a leader in high-payload AGVs. Its portfolio of platforms, forklifts, and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) are known for high-precision omnidirectional positioning and ability to handle payloads from 1.5 to 500 tons. At MODEX, visitors will have the opportunity to see some of these solutions in action.

Small but mighty: the award-winning, market-leading PF3 AGV

Stäubli Robotics will demonstrate its PF3, an ultra-compact platform AGV capable of handling payloads of up to three tons - with the leading footprint-to-payload ratio on the market. While highly robust, the PF3 is also agile and precise, working within very narrow spaces, easily maneuvering around obstacles, and carrying out tasks with a positioning precision of +/-5 mm. Plus, the PF3's smart features help future-proof production and streamline workflows. This unique AGV was recognized with the 2023 Best Smart Product award in the prestigious Red Dot Design competition.

The PF3 also stands out for its safety features and ease of use. It works with standard software interfaces, while an all-around LED strip and 45° inclined touch panel provide an intuitive and ergonomic operator experience, supporting user acceptance and integration. Safety is ensured by a 360-degree human safety scanner, five emergency stop buttons, a collision avoidance sensor, and an LED strip that communicates the AGV's status.

Easy programming and palletizing

User friendliness is always a priority in Stäubli's product development, and this too will be on display at MODEX 2024. A box palletizing demonstration will show how a TX2-140 robot, which uses area scanners for safety and requires no physical guarding, checks for proper positioning through its vision system and reliably completes the otherwise repetitive and arduous task, relieving the burden on human workers.

The main attraction here is the ease of programming of the robot to perform this task. No programming expertise is required on the part of operators, and visitors will have the opportunity to experience this at an interactive exhibit, where they can try out the programming interface for themselves.

Experts in general industry and AGV specialists from Stäubli Robotics will be on hand to walk visitors through product features and discuss specific applications, giving manufacturing, distribution, supply chain and other professionals insights into how Stäubli robots and AGVs can help them improve operations, increase productivity, enhance safety, lower costs, and build more resilient, future-proof supply chains.
