New OnLogic Fanless Industrial Computer Connects Modern and Legacy Systems

The Helix 511 Edge Computer from OnLogic offers up to four serial connections in a compact, fully solid state, fanless computer engineered for challenging industrial environments.

SOUTH BURLINGTON, VT (June 14, 2023)

To help bridge the growing gap between modern systems and the legacy technology still in use around the world, global industrial computing specialists, OnLogic (www.onlogic.com), have released the Helix 511 Edge Computer. Designed for use in manufacturing, automation, energy management, and other edge and IoT applications, the Helix 511 easily interfaces with on-site systems thanks to a broad selection of modern and legacy connectivity options.

"We frequently have conversations with customers who are struggling to update their technology infrastructure simply because they can't connect existing systems to newer, more powerful and more capable devices," says OnLogic Product Manager, Hunter Golden. "The embedded computing space has traditionally lagged behind when it comes to adopting new technologies. We want to shift that paradigm while still allowing innovators to access and exchange data with their existing equipment. In many cases, you don't need to rip and replace everything, you just need a Helix 511."

The Helix 511 can be configured with a range of Intel® 12th Generation processors, from Celeron® through Core™ i7. Up to 64GB of DDR5 memory provides increased bandwidth and reduced latency while consuming less power than DDR4. Onboard graphics options include Intel UHD or Intel Iris® Xe. Users can choose from a range of Windows, Ubuntu Linux, or Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® operating systems.

To support its varied application capabilities, a pair of Thunderbolt 4 certified ports provide high-bandwidth connectivity to devices or displays, while up to four simultaneous serial port connections enable communication with legacy devices. In addition, Helix 511 can be configured with onboard Digital Input/Output (DIO) to provide programmable signaling and control. The system can also be configured with an integrated cellular modem, pre-certified to operate on many of the world's most popular cellular carrier networks.

In line with its intended use in industrial environments, Helix 511 has been tested and certified to meet a wide range of industry standards, including FCC, CE, UKCA, CB, cULus, VCCI, and RCM. It has also undergone a range of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing, including medical compliance with electrostatic discharge protection up to 15,000 volts (IEC 60601-1-2) and maritime emissions and immunity requirements (EN 60945). The system is able to reliably operate in temperatures ranging from 0 to 50°C, can accept power input ranging from 12 to 24 Volts, and is Wall, VESA and DIN rail mountable.

The Helix 511 is eligible for OnLogic's Extended Support Program, which provides a 5-year warranty, 24/7 technical assistance and additional services to support system deployments well into the future.

The OnLogic Helix 511 is available to configure and purchase now by visiting www.onlogic.com/hx511. OnLogic Solution Specialists are available to assist with configuration and to answer any questions by emailing info@onlogic.com, calling 802-861-2300 or via chat on the OnLogic website.
