Schunk - Highest Holding Forces in Small Spaces
SCHUNK has extended its series of digitally controllable magnetic grippers with the compact SCHUNK EGM-M monopole gripper.
SCHUNK has extended its series of digitally controllable magnetic grippers with the compact SCHUNK EGM-M monopole gripper.
Features of the gripper:
• With compact dimensions of 26 mm x 98 mm, it is still precise and powerful
• Even though its small, the EGM-M is suitable for handling parts weighing up to 10 kg
• Since its magnetic field reaches to the outer edge, there are no interfering contours
• It can be positioned anywhere on the workpiece, and can be combined with larger units.
No compressed air or vacuum is required to actuate the monopole grippers
As with all the SCHUNK EGM magnetic grippers in this series, the monopole grippers operate with energy-efficient electro-permanent magnets - they do not require compressed air or vacuum. Only a short current pulse for 300 ms is required for actuation and deactivation. Since no energy supply is required in activated condition, the parts remain securely gripped even in the case of an emergency stop or a sudden loss of power.
Flexible and adjustable to handle a variety of workpieces
The SCHUNK EGM-B bi-pole gripper was designed for handling heavy and complex ferromagnetic parts. Available with one, two, or four pole pairs in different arrangements, along with pole extensions allow adjustment of individual handling objects.
The range of SCHUNK EGM grippers have a gripping force of 1.2 and 22.5 kN, and is designed for parts weighing a maximum of 147 kg, with a material thickness starting from 3.5 mm. For handling of thin sheets, the gripping force can be reduced in eight stages with an additional control unit. The EGM-M magnetic gripper can be used in confined spaces due to its compact dimensions, and in a maximum ambient temperature of 40° C the activation or deactivation time amounts to 300 ms.
