Steve Altman Joins Brain Corporation™ Board of Directors to Accelerate Adoption of BrainOS™, the Learning Operating System for Robots

BrainOS™ beta developer program launching in the fall

SAN DIEGO--Brain Corporation announced today the addition of Steve Altman, former president and vice chairman of Qualcomm Incorporated, to its board of directors. In his new role, he will leverage his experience as a 15-year member of Qualcomms Executive Committee to advise the company.

During his tenure with Qualcomm, Altman provided direction and guidance on key initiatives across all areas of the business, as well as on overall company vision and strategy. He led the creation of Qualcomms IP licensing strategy, which became a catalyst for the rapid worldwide growth of CDMA technology and the success of the Qualcomm Technology Licensing business.

"Brain Corporation is pioneering the next revolution for the robotics market," said Steve Altman. "I'm very excited about joining the board of Brain Corporation, and I look forward to providing guidance to the company as it continues to develop its business strategy."

Brain Corporation is launching the Brain Operating System (BrainOS™) to enable the creation of autonomous, adaptive, and affordable robots. Instead of being programmed, robots powered by BrainOS™ are trained like animals by showing examples of desired behaviors. In combination with low-power and high-performance processors developed for the smartphone market, BrainOS™ enables the development of capable consumer robots for everyday applications.

"We have adapted to robotics recent progress in neuroscience and machine learning and put it on mobile processors that power the most advanced digital products in the world; this will substantially reduce cost and speed time to market of consumer robots for our partners worldwide," said Dr. Eugene Izhikevich, founder and chief executive officer of Brain Corporation. "Steve brings to our board a deep understanding of licensing strategy to grow our business."

"This combination of software and hardware technologies will enable the creation of entirely new applications in consumer and service robots," said Matt Grob, executive vice president and CTO of Qualcomm. "We are very pleased to support Brain Corporations efforts."

BrainOS™ will be available in beta to select developer partners in the fall. For more information on the developer program, please visit http://braincorporation.com/brainosbeta.
