XIMEA Showcased Fully USB3 Vision Standard Compliant Cameras at The Vision Show in Boston 2014

The xiQ series - the world's smallest and fastest USB3 cameras - have been proven in latest plugfest tests to fully comply with the USB3 Vision Standard.

MUNSTER, Germany, April 24, 2014--Already in preparation for The Vision Show in Boston, XIMEA used latest USB3 Vision plugfest in San Jose to reconfirm through multiple tests that its line of USB 3.0 cameras is entirely compliant with the USB3 Vision Standard. This was further certified by interaction with Libraries also complying with the standard: National Instruments LabVIEW, MVTec HALCON, ActiveUSB A&B Software and Matrox Imaging Library (MIL).

The results were remarkable across the board: XIMEA's 4 Mpix CMOSIS CMV4000 model achieved 90fps at full resolution with LabVIEW, while the 2 Mpix CMV2000 model achieved 170fps with ActiveUSB. The models equipped with CMV300 sensor and VGA resolution delivered more than 500fps with MIL. These results set new benchmarks when it comes to speeds measured for USB 3.0 interface cameras within a productive system.

Based on several years of collaboration among leading technology companies within the machine vision industry, USB3 Vision Standard was released by AIA, the Automated Imaging Association, with XIMEA GmbH being one of the AIA Technical Committee members.

XIMEA is pleased to provide to customers the option to easily upgrade to USB3 Vision with the help of xiAPI - a custom developed software with intuitive interface. If needed, the upgrade can be reversed to the old version with USB 3.0 API.

USB3 Vision creates a framework for a reliable transmission of high bandwidth of visual and control data while simplifying the deployment process for customers and providing easy plug & play functionality. It ensures complete interoperability between various USB 3.0 components such as cameras, accessories, PC and software libraries.

The benefits of USB3 are additionally increased through XIMEA camera's compatibility with Newnex's 100m fiber based USB3 extender and Icron's 15m active repeater cables. These accessories provide the ability to enjoy efficiency of USB3 SuperSpeed technology while having industrial camera up to 100m away from the processing backend.

Furthermore, XIMEA provides compatibility with Windows, Linux, MAC OSX, DirectShow and allows backward compatibility with USB 2.0 to support the existing customer base.

As XIMEA was the first company to provide single planar board level versions for their USB3 line, the upgraded versions with USB 3 Vision continue to be available also with single planar board.

Like all XIMEA's industrial cameras, each xiQ model is shipped with APIs for the most common image processing software, including programs from 30 leading Library vendors like Cognex, Mathworks, Aqsense, Norpix, OpenCV and many others.
