Your company will be exhibiting at PACK Expo, what is it that makes this an important event for your company?

PACK EXPO is one of Schmalz’s most important shows of the year. It creates an opportunity for our team to reconnect with our existing packaging partners, as well as meet new folks in the industry. This year is particularly special as we have a number of NEW technologies that will impact and improve packaging processes; our Ethernet Compact Terminal (SCTSi), our pallet truck attachment for mobile picking of workpieces, and our universal gripping engineers have developed their palletizing end-of-arm-tooling to work in a manual processes. Additionally, we will be introducing our NEW SmartLifter, this technologically advanced tool offers workers at final stage of the packaging process, the most effortless and safest way to lift and stack.

All of these tools will be demoed in our booth.

When you get a chance to walk the exhibit hall floor yourself, what is it you will be most interested to see?  Any educational sessions, pavilions etc. you plan on attending?

The advancements in automation year-over-year is always an impressive part of the show. So many of our integrator and robotic manufacturing partners are making crazy advancements for the packaging industry.

The factory floor is undertaking rapid advancements, be it automation, robotics, machine vision or data.  Automation Technology is a huge part for many manufacturers, give us an idea on how your company and product is being utilized now in the smart factory.

Schmalz has been driven to lead the development of Industry 4.0. This year’s introduction of our Ethernet Compact Terminal (SCTSi) is the first smart field device from Schmalz to feature an Ethernet interface in place of an IO-Link interface. This enables it to communicate via the Industrial Ethernet standards EtherCat, EtherNet/IP as well as ProfiNet, which are designed for high real-time performance and robustness.
